Help feed hungry children by sponsoring a food drive
One way Dare to Care helps children-in-need in our schools is by providing non-perishable food to the school nurses to give to children who come to school hungry and need help. Many children are seen every day with mystery stomach aches or headaches. They often learn the child has not eaten that day , and sometimes, since the day prior or worse. Many families are food insecure and this statistic only worsens with the worsening economy.
Families, CHILDREN need our help.
One easy way you can join the ‘No Child Goes Hungry’ campaign is by hosting a food drive. Invite friends, neighbors, co-workers and others to meet and learn more. A Dare to Care representative will be there to discuss the need and what efforts are on-going to help these kids. Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food for us to distribute to school nurses.
Suggestions for Helpful Food Items: Cup of Soup, Granola Bars, Dried Fruit, Protein Bars, Indiv Serving Fruit Cups and Apple Sauce, and Pop Tarts. Costco has other great items like individual servings of Trail Mix, Nuts and Fruit, etc. We always looking for good options for children with peanut allergies.
