Thanksgiving Day Food Box Program

In 2006, Chugiak Elementary School participated in a Thanksgiving Dinner food drive in which 20 classes decorated boxes and filled them with all the needed ingredients for a perfect Thanksgiving Day dinner – including a turkey! The boxes were first distributed to families-in-need within that school and the remaining boxes were disbursed to families in neighboring schools. During Thanksgiving 2006, 20 families received dinner boxes. The students had a contest in which the two classes with the most complete and creatively decorated boxes won a pizza party!
		Currently there are eight schools signed up to participate in the 2007 Thanksgiving Dinner food drive. This will provide approximately 160 dinners to families in need within the district. This is a wonderful program that allows children to help make a difference in the lives of other children. Sign-up for your class or school to participate by October 15, 2007.
