During the summer of 2006 Bettsie Wild competed in the Mrs. Alaska pageant as a way to promote the Dare to Care program. At the pageant she befriended a wonderful lady from Wrangle named Holly Hammer. Holly has helped not only with moral support and a sounding board for Dare to Care ideas and plans – but also put together a coat drive in her community to help with Dare to Care's desire to provide winter gear to children-in-need.
